What was the world like on that first Christmas eve? In the country of Israel, there was no peace. The Romans occupied the country. Civil unrest and political intrigue abounded. The pursuit of power and prestige drove the ambitions of both the government and the religious institution. Most people lived lives of "quiet desperation" with little hope of transformational change. They had all but forgotten God's promise of a "Savior". But at the perfect time, God sent His Son into the world. The One who spoke the worlds into existence came into the world He created. God became a man to fulfill His plan for the redemption and restoration of all that was lost in the Fall. The "Hope of all the Ages" had arrived and few were there to welcome Him. A quick look around reminds us that our times aren't very different from that first Christmas.
